Registration and logging in

Create a user account at the following link: http://www.lingo.u-szeged.hu/e-learning/user/register.

In the Real name and Neptun code fields, please provide real and accurate data so that your instructor can identify you on the site. If you do not have a user account in the Neptun Student Information System, leave the relevant field blank.

If you want to find a chat partner to practice your English with, select yes for the relavant field.

If you want to use the website as a student of the University of Szeged Foreign Language Centre and have already registered for a course in Neptun, in the Group membership field, select the group corresponding your course that you would like to join. If you can’t find your course in the list, please get in touch with your instructor. You can also join a group after you first log in. If you are not a student of the Foreign Language Centre, please select none.

After registration, you will be notified in email about the creation of your account and will be given instructions on how to log in. Clicking on the link in the confirmation email leads you to a one-time login page. The first time you log in, you have to set a password for your account. Save your password by clicking on the Save button at the bottom of the form.

Your user profile page

After logging in, you will see your profile page with the following tabs:

  • The View tab shows your user profile information.
  • The Edit tab lets you edit your account and user profile information.
  • The Groups tab lists the groups that you are a member of. (Please see the next section to learn how to join a group.)
  • The Results tab shows your results for the interactive tasks that you have completed. (Please see the section Viewing your results form more information about this tab.)
  • The Likes tab shows the pages you have liked.
  • The User feedback tab shows the pages that you have submitted user feedback forms for.
  • The Badges tab shows the badges that you have earned.
  • The Friends tab lets you manage your friends on the website.

Joining a group

If you didn’t join a group on registration, find the group(s) that you would like to join by clicking on the Groups link in the top menu.

At the end of the row for the selected group, click on the Subscribe button. On the next page, enter an optional message to the group manager (your instructor), then click on Join. Your instructor will be notified in email about your request and will update your membership.

Your membership status has to be Active for you to have access to group features and for your instructor to be able to view your results. When you become an active member of a group, you receive an email notification. If your membership doesn’t get updated, please get in touch with your instructor.

Browsing the content of the site

Use the top menu links to browse the content of the website: Tasks, Tips, Useful language.

Under Tasks, you can find interactive tasks that you can complete online, and speaking tasks that are best done with a partner in a class.

When you first visit an interactive task page, you will see a message at the top of the page informing you that you haven’t completed the task yet. After you submit your answers, your result for the task will appear here the next time you visit the page or after you refresh it.

The Tags section shows information about the page that you are viewing.

Some pages have sections entitled Related tips and useful language and Related speaking tasks, which show you lists of pages related to the one you are viewing.

Under Like this page, click on the thumb up icon to like the page. This way, you can save the page for yourself as well as recommend it to other users.

Fill in the User feedback form to send us feedback about the given page.

As of September 2020, you can earn badges by solving interactive tasks with maximum points.

Viewing your results

Go to your account page by clicking on your account name under the search box at the top. Click on the Results tab to view a summary of your results. You can filter your results based on topic, skill or task type as well as see which tasks you haven’t completed yet.

Only you and your group manager (your instructor) can have access to your results.

Extra features

The Top rated pages link in the top menu lets you view a list of the pages that have received the most likes.

The Top scores page lists the best 10 scores on the website reached since September 2018.

The page entitled Find a chat partner, which is also accessible from the top menu, lists users who are looking for a chat partner to practice speaking tasks with. You can contact users shown here through their user profile page.

If you want to add a user to your list of friends, visit the user's profile page and click on the link Add friend. The user will be notified in email about your friend request. If they approve your request, the user will be added to your list of friends, accessible under the Friends tab on your profile page.
